Launch of EcoNiPass, a CO2 emissions visualization platform

Suzuyo Shoji and WingArc1st collaborate to achieve carbon neutrality

WingArc1st Inc.

WingArc1st and Suzuyo Shoji Co., Ltd. have developed EcoNiPass, a CO2 emissions visualization platform that aggregates and visualizes CO2 emissions in the supply chain, as a platform service for achieving carbon neutrality. It will be available from May 31.

The CO2 emissions visualization platform, EcoNiPass, is a cloud service that promotes carbon neutrality by automatically aggregating and visualizing the CO2 emissions of companies (users) and their suppliers. It helps all parties to understand their current CO2 emissions and consider reduction measures. Easy operation, easy-to-understand screens, and a low-cost, simple fee structure reduce the man-hours and costs required to monitor CO2 emissions.

Background
Global efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 are accelerating, especially among corporations. In Japan, there is a growing movement to reduce CO2 emissions not only by individual companies but also across the entire supply chain. However, some companies are still struggling to understand their current CO2 emissions and how to compile emissions for the entire supply chain. Therefore, we have developed EcoNiPass as a platform service that can be used jointly not only by companies working to reduce CO2 emissions, but also by their suppliers.

■Features of EcoNiPass, a CO2 emissions visualization service
Feature 1:Reduction of workload for reporting and tabulation by supply chain linkage function
EcoNiPass can be used together with suppliers to automatically share the CO2 emissions of each supplier to its own CO2 emissions*1 , reducing the workload of reporting and aggregation.

*1 This must be set up at the time of application.

Feature 2:Available at zero initial cost and 4,800 yen/month (tax not included)
EcoNiPass not only visualizes the company's CO2 emissions, but also has a supply chain linkage function by default, with zero initial cost and a monthly fee of 4,800 yen *2.

In addition, suppliers who are eligible for the linkage can use the reporting function and visualization of their own CO2 emissions for a monthly fee equivalent to 1,500 yen*2.

*2 The contract is on an annual basis and the fee should be paid in a lump sum at the end of the month following the month of commencement of use. Please contact us for details.

Feature 3: Intuitive, easy-to-understand dashboard screen for monitoring CO2 emissions
CO2 emissions are displayed in an easy-to-understand manner by Scope*4 based on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Initiative (GHG Protocol)*3 , by energy type, and by company/office, and can also be used to manage progress in reduction activities by displaying monthly trends and intensity.

*3 An international standard for calculating and reporting greenhouse gas emissions. The standard was established to provide reliable information that reflects the actual situation as companies begin to calculate and report their greenhouse gas emissions to combat global warming.

*4 Scope is a classification of GHG emitters and the way in which they emit and is divided into the following three categories. Under the GHG Protocol, Scopes 1 through 3 are summed together to form the total emissions of the entire supply chain.

  • Scope 1: Direct greenhouse gas emissions by businesses themselves (fuel combustion, industrial processes)
  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the use of electricity, heat and steam supplied by other companies
  • Scope 3: Indirect emissions other than Scope 1 and 2 (emissions by other companies related to the activities of the business)

■Future development
Further development is underway with the aim of expanding functions that will improve customer convenience, such as visualization of CO2 emissions per product and the addition of a function to integrate data from measurement equipment installed on the production line. In the future, we plan to add various external data points, such as corporate and logistics data.

■EcoNiPass
EcoNiPass was named based on a concept of "Passing means and information to people (Pass)" in order to "care for the environment (Eco) (Ni)".
